The alarm clock
There she was.
At the foot of the Estaque mountain range.
On the land of my childhood, lulled by the still wild Etang de Berre and the gnarled fig trees I used to climb with my brother.
And when you climbed up the tree, even with legs as thick as "Pitchou" warbler's, you were within easy reach of purple figs with thick white flesh and blood-red granular cores, loaded to the brim with minerals and trace elements by the Provencal sun.
Figs are good.
What's more, they're plentiful and there's no one in sight.
Not even the neighbor who owns this generous tree.
Come on, I'll take one.
Then two.
Then, once the crime has been committed, the illicit consumption of the neighbor's figs becomes a habitual offence.
The penalty will be the same for three more, so..
